Simple 4 Patch |
The great thing about this quilt, is you can use scraps or leftovers from other quilts. |
I like to do 8” blocks, but you can do smaller or larger depending on how big your scraps are. |
What you will need: |
· (60) 4 1/2” blocks to make up your 4 patch blocks. · (15) 8 1/2” blocks for your solid blocks. I like to pick something neutral. · Batting. For this size, crib size works well (45” x 60”) · Border, if desired, I do 2 1/2” strips. (2)52” strips, and (2) 40 1/2” strips. |
Directions: |
1. Take your 4 1/2” size blocks and piece them right sides together into any variety you like to create a 4 patch. Use 1/4” seam throughout the quilt. 2. When you have your 4 patches sewn together, start connecting 4 patch to solid block. (1/4” seam again!) 3. Continue to make rows, and then connect the rows to eachother, to create 6 rows with 5 blocks in each row. 4. To add border, sew on the 40 1/2” (horizontal) borders first. Then add the vertical borders. 5. Your top is finished, go ahead and get your backing and batting, and quilt as desired. |
